Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a Supply Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work within the Pembrokeshire in a specialist provision supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to support their learning and emotional wellbeing
* Help to implement individual behaviour support plans under the guidance of teaching and pastoral staff
* Promote positive behaviour strategies and de-escalate challenging situations in a calm, supportive manner
* Build trusting relationships with students who may display anxiety, aggression, or low self-esteem
* Support classroom teachers and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment
* Monitor progress and report back to staff and SENCO as needed
This role requires a high level of patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Experience working with young people in PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) or SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) settings is advantageous but not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Requirements:
* A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential due to the rural location and potential travel between sites
* Experience working with children or young people with behavioural difficulties or additional needs
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to build positive, respectful relationships with challenging learners
* A genuine passion for supporting young people to re-engage with education
A DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one) is required.
