Inflammatory Bowel Disease Nurse Specialist – INTERNAL
NHS AfC: Band 7 • Main area: Gastroenterology IBD • Contract: Permanent • Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday, flexible hours, no weekends)

Role & responsibilities
* Deliver specialist clinical services to patients with inflammatory bowel disease, including nurse-led clinics, biologic initiation and monitoring, and advice-line support.
* Clinically manage and coordinate IBD patient pathways, ensuring continuity of care across services and settings.
* Provide specialist education and training to nursing, medical, and allied health professionals, as well as students.
* Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, providing expert clinical advice and contributing to shared decision‑making.
* Influence and support the development of the IBD service at local and national levels, in line with best practice and national standards.
* Lead and participate in clinical audit, quality improvement, and service evaluation within the specialist area.
* Participate in, facilitate, or undertake research and evidence‑based practice relevant to IBD care.
* Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior staff.
Essential requirements
* Demonstrable experience in IBD nursing, including management of patients receiving biologic therapies.
* Experience in nurse-led clinics and patient pathway coordination.
* Competence in blood monitoring, adverse event management, and patient advice-line support.
* Ability to work autonomously, make advanced clinical decisions, and lead within the MDT.

Qualifications & experience
Essential –
* Registered Nurse (Pt 1/12)
* ENB 998/Slice, C&G 730 or equivalent
* Educated to at least first degree level or equivalent experience
* Evidence of recent appropriate clinical practice in the specialty
Experience – Essential: Recent clinical experience at Band 6/7 in the specialty.
Desirable – Experience of successful change management; evidence of recent appropriate clinical practice in Gastroenterology.
