Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior MSK team and shape our future service. The Healthcare Governance Matron/Governance Lead role involves coordinating and leading governance functions such as quality monitoring, complaints and risk management. The post holder will work across professional boundaries and closely with Medical Governance leads to ensure the provision of quality care and patient safety. The post holder will also manage the MSK Education Team. Nursing applicants will be asked to contribute to the Duty Matron rota. The MSK care group includes Inpatient and outpatient Orthopaedic, spinal and trauma services, Sheffield Hand Centre, Metabolic Bone and Osteoporosis Centre, Rheumatology, Chronic Pain Services, Podiatric Surgery, Inpatient and Outpatient hospital-based MSK Therapy services, Physio work community service, and Staff physiotherapy service.
Responsibilities
* Provide coordination and leadership to support governance functions including quality monitoring, complaints handling, and risk management.
* Work across professional boundaries and collaborate with Medical Governance leads to ensure quality care and patient safety.
* Manage the MSK Education Team.
* Serve as the first point of contact for directorate/department staff, corporate specialists, central governance departments, and Trust-wide specialist committees for governance communications.
* Ensure governance communications are locally disseminated and staff are consulted about changes to governance systems and documents.
* Rapidly bring serious directorate or department issues to the attention of relevant Clinical, Operations, Nurse Directors, Head of Service, Matrons, corporate leads/central departments, and other colleagues as appropriate.
* Receive guidance from corporate specialists and central governance departments about legislation and national standards; consider changes to improve compliance and quality; recommend changes to systems, policies and protocols.
* Implement agreed changes to governance systems, policies and protocols across directorates/departments and feed back on issues.
* Participate in surveys, audits and inspections to test local governance processes and provide evidence of compliance with standards when required.
* Ensure local systems review and update clinical guidelines and governance protocols produced by the directorate/department.
