JOB PURPOSE
To actively participate in the daily operation of the Catering Unit under the direction of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. Team participation is essential to provide an efficient hygienic service, achieve customer satisfaction, and promote sales within the unit.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks, using appropriate equipment.
2. Perform simple cooking, including reconstituting prepared food.
3. Organise and control food service points.
4. Transfer and serve meals and snacks, including transported meals.
5. Assist in promoting meals to pupils, parents, and the principal.
6. Maintain regular contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery, if applicable.
7. Prepare the dining area by setting out tables, chairs, benches, and serving points as required.
8. Set tables and lay out cutlery, water jugs, etc.
9. Complete general kitchen and dining room duties, including washing up and clearing away equipment.
10. Clean the kitchen, servery, dining room, and equipment, including floors and walls.
11. Record temperatures for control purposes as required.
12. Secure premises as necessary.
13. Complete delegated duties related to service provision.
14. Ensure compliance with Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments, Regulations, and legal requirements, as well as Codes of Practice.
15. Perform all duties inherent in the job's working conditions.
16. Complete all necessary administrative tasks.
17. Carry out duties for jobs up to and including the same grade, within competence.
18. Promote and adhere to the Values and ethos of the School.
Note: Where part of the school premises are used for both food consumption and educational purposes, non-catering staff are responsible for cleaning the room.
