Key Responsibilities:
* Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables for backbone, FTTx, and enterprise networks.
* Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, power meters, and light sources to verify performance and detect faults.
* Perform fiber fault isolation, troubleshooting, and repairs in coordination with the NOC (Network Operations Center).
* Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure network reliability and minimize downtime.
* Read and interpret fiber network maps, blueprints, and as-built documentation.
* Maintain accurate records of splicing, testing results, and maintenance activities.
* Ensure all fiber installation work adheres to company standards, safety procedures, and industry best practices.
* Coordinate with project managers and other departments to complete network deployment and upgrade projects.
* Provide support during network outages and participate in on‑call rotations when required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, and maintenance.
* Strong understanding of fiber optic theory, standards (TIA/EIA, ITU‑T), and best practices.
* Hands‑on experience with fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fault localization tools.
* Ability to interpret network drawings and work independently in the field.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Valid driver’s license required.
* Safety certification (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) preferred.
Preferred Skills:
* Familiarity with structured cabling and network infrastructure.
* Basic understanding of IP networking and equipment (routers, switches, etc.).
* Knowledge of GIS mapping tools and network documentation software.
Working Conditions:
* Field‑based role involving travel between customer sites and network locations.
* May include working at heights, underground chambers, and in varied weather conditions.
* Occasional evening or weekend work during network upgrades or emergency repairs.
