Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust invites applications for a 1 year fixed-term Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialist interest in GI malignancies.

IGRT, VMAT and 4D-CT are in routine use and a linac replacement programme to four cutting-edge Varian Trubeams (complete with 6 degree of freedom couches and 4D-CBCT) was completed in 2020. We have an established SABR service for lung and oligometastatic nodal and bone disease, and will shortly expand to spinal SABR treatments as well. We commissioned out treatment planning software (Raystation) around a year ago.
The post holder would cover the colorectal practice on the Isle of Wight with nurse specialist, prescriber and resident doctor support. The Upper GI practice is based at Portsmouth and shared with another Clinical Oncologist. The job incorporates both radiotherapy and systemic therapy and the post holder would be expected to participate in acute oncology ward rounds.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will join the Oncology team as a Clinical Oncology Consultant and will be expected to participate in all facets of departmental activity, and take an active role in management over a career.
A full-time substantive Consultant Oncologist post of 10 PA is available, covering the job plan (attached). A part-time appointment would be considered with appropriate adjustment of job plan.

Qualifications
Essential
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
* Higher professional training in Clinical Oncology
Desirable
* MRCP/FRCP or equivalent
* BSc or MD
Clinical Experience
* Entry on the GMC specialist register via CCT (proposed date must be within 6 months), CESR or European Community Rights
* An appropriate higher Clinical Oncology surgical qualification
* Evidence of a clinical or research fellowship
Clinical Skills
* Demonstrable skills and experience of expertise in the areas of special interest relevant to the Job Plan
* Understanding of clinical risk management
Knowledge
* Able to demonstrate appropriate level of clinical knowledge
* Knowledge and use of evidence based practice
* IT skills
