Note: This band 6 position can be offered as either a split role in pelvic health and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, or a predominantly pelvic health role. Applicants must have some experience of the assessment, treatment and management of pelvic health patients.
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and passionate Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our large outpatient physiotherapy team which offers treatment to both pelvic health and musculoskeletal patients.
You will play a significant role in our expanding pelvic health service that has previously won a Providers and Patients in Partnership award. We have proudly developed the service over the last thirteen to provide treatment for women’s and men’s health patients and we work closely with the secondary care team at Medway Hospital.
You will need good communication skills, be a team player, demonstrate a flexible approach to a busy caseload, have good clinical reasoning and developing leadership skills to ensure our service is evidence based and delivered to a high standard. You would be working alongside a range of staff and may be required to work in different clinics across Medway and Swale.
This post is suitable for applicants who have already had exposure to pelvic health physiotherapy and are keen to develop their clinical skills further.

Key responsibilities and requirements
1. Communication and relationship skills
o Communicate with: Head of Service for Adult Therapy; Physiotherapy team leads; Extended Scope Practitioners and Clinical Specialists; Other physiotherapists, assistants and secretarial / clerical staff within the service; AHP colleagues; Other members of the MDT; Medway NHS Trust staff; Patients, carers, relatives; General Practitioners and staff; Consultant teams and staff; Social Services; Professional Bodies; Higher Education establishments; Voluntary and private sectors.
2. Knowledge, training and experience
o State Registered Physiotherapist
o Recognised degree / diploma in Physiotherapy
o Evidence of continual professional development
o Clinical educator training (desirable)
o Completed core rotations at junior level or Band 5/6 experience in musculoskeletal and pelvic health field
o Supervision of other staff and students
o Delegation of work to junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants
o Evidence based practice in the pelvic health and musculoskeletal field
o Current issues within physiotherapy and the NHS
o Demonstrate knowledge of Clinical Governance and risk management
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Diplomacy, Assertiveness, Staff supervision
o Effective time management and organisational skills
o Flexible and responsive to the needs of the service
o Basic IT skills
o Presentation skills (desirable)
o Team leadership and team building skills (desirable)
o Drive and enthusiasm, Self-motivated, Evidence of commitment to CPD
3. Analytical and judgement skills
o Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent
o Maintain HPC registration, CSP, trust and departmental standards, guidelines and policies
o Maintain communication with senior clinicians and seek new skills when appropriate
4. Planning and organisational skills
o Keep up to date medical records in physiotherapy and MDT notes; provide reports and discharge summaries
o Submit clinical information and data to support decision making
o Maintain specialist knowledge in pelvic health and musculoskeletal conditions
o Plan, organise and prioritise own workload and guide junior staff
5. Physical skills
o Deliver individualized physiotherapy treatment programmes
o Internal examinations and internal manual therapy for pelvic floor dysfunctions
o Manual therapy techniques, acupuncture and electrical modalities
o Safe use of gym and electrical equipment
6. Responsibility for patient / client care
o Be professionally and legally responsible for own work; ensure high standard of care
o Specialist assessment of diverse and complex patients; develop treatment plans
o Discharge planning and referrals to other services
o Effective communication with patients, carers and other professionals
7. Policy and service development implementation
o Apply Clinical Governance and risk management; implement safety policies
o Adhere to Health & Safety and infection control measures
o Support equal opportunities and staff wellbeing
o Engage in Evidence Based Practice projects and audits
o Collaborate to introduce innovative service delivery methods
