The Role – Graduate English Tutor
As a Graduate English Tutor, you will work closely with experienced English teachers and play a key role in raising attainment and confidence. Your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions across Key Stages 3 and 4.
* Supporting students with reading comprehension, analytical writing, and exam technique.
* Assisting in English lessons to ensure pupils remain engaged and supported.
* Leading structured intervention sessions focused on GCSE preparation.
* Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to feedback and assessment.
* Helping to maintain a focused, positive, and academically ambitious learning environment.
This is a hands‑on role that provides genuine insight into teaching and daily life within a secondary school English department.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a graduate who demonstrates academic excellence and professional ambition:
* A 2:1 or above in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject.
* A strong interest in education, with the intention of pursuing teacher training in the future.
* Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to explain ideas clearly and confidently.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A professional, proactive, and committed approach.
* Previous experience working with young people is beneficial, but not essential.
