We are now recruiting an adviser to provide a high quality, effective and efficient advice and information service to clients who require debt support. The advice will be holistic and take the client all the way through the advice process, from gathering information to finding a debt solution.
You will be a highly motivated strong team player with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. You will have the ability to understand written and oral information of some complexity; have excellent numeracy skills to support compiling accurate financial statements and calculate benefits; and, have effective oral and written communication skills for the purposes of negotiation and reporting.
Advisers will support clients to identify priority and non-priority debts, emergencies including but not limited to bailiff action, undertake benefits checks and supporting the client to reduce their expenditure, handling court forms and negotiating with creditors. You'll undertake aspects of advice and casework and provide an appropriate level of support based on the client's capability. Casework and appointments can be undertaken remotely either via telephone or video.
Essential
* MaPS debt advice certificate and commitment to any continued training/development opportunities
* Good understanding of Data Protection and Safeguarding
* Able to work in a non-judgemental way
* Able to prioritise and work to deadline
* Experience or willingness to learn how to manage a caseload
* Excellent numeracy skills
* Confident IT user
* Able to work as a team and independently
* Good communication skills
* Commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice Service
A debt advice background is preferred but not essential, full training will be provided.
