We are currently recruiting for a Sommelier to join our team at THE PIG - at Combe. At THE PIG, our Sommeliers are free from the traditional image of wine service! You will develop your wine knowledge while working on the floor during our vibrant restaurant service. You will build your knowledge of local and international brands and start to develop relationships with existing and new suppliers. Additionally, you will have opportunities to grow your qualifications by enrolling in various courses and joining PIG Sommelier’s for wine team days out, including tastings, vineyard visits, and international trips. This role also includes some light bar duties, including closing procedures.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Provide knowledgeable wine service to guests, pairing wines with our food menu.
* Demonstrate your skills and knowledge across the team through briefings and tastings.
* Ensure wine stock is stored correctly, maintaining a presentable and safe cellar.
* Communicate effectively with both the team and guests, with a caring and considered approach.
* Actively develop your knowledge of wines and spirits.
* Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by our Head Sommelier.
* Maintain a clean and tidy bar area, including closing procedures.
Previous experience as a Sommelier or Bartender with good wine knowledge in a similar environment is required. A positive, can-do attitude and eagerness to develop your knowledge of wines and spirits are essential.
