Overview
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Lead Tooling Engineer to work within a Die Maintenance Department for our client based in Washington, Tyne & Wear. This is a leadership role, responsible for a small team of Die Maintenance Technicians on shift. The role centres upon delivering Die Maintenance work and the repair of press tooling equipment.
This is an exciting opportunity with a well-known automotive industry client. The client is a global business with approximately 10,000 employees located in various countries.
Base pay range

The role
* Lead a team of Die Maintenance Technicians within the shift as the Lead Tooling Engineer
* Engage in soft HR practices such as back to works, appraisals, training & development, recruitment & selection and grievance & discipline
* Create shift reports
* Diagnose and repair equipment to maximise machine availability
* Lead the repair and maintenance of all assembly and press tooling equipment in a timely manner
* Lead geometry improvement activities from technical understanding
* Perform scheduled and planned maintenance to reduce breakdowns and improve equipment performance and reliability
* Adhere to quality standards and QMS requirements
* Adhere to legal and safety requirements including PUWER Power press regulations, lifting and slinging
* Support and champion the intervention process and escalation procedure
* Support procurement and management of spare parts and tools
* Report RPO and MTTR data (documentation of jobs/hours completed through electronic reporting methods)
* Support the development of Engineering apprentices through knowledge and skill sharing
* Lead planned maintenance activities, including technical improvement activities
The person
* Recognised apprenticeship in Die Maintenance or Tool Making
* Prior Lead, Team Leader or Supervisory experience within Die Maintenance/Press tooling
* Industrial manufacturing or automotive relevant engineering experience
* Proactive and autonomous in workload management
* Able to communicate at all levels of the business
* Able to follow instructions and maintain composure in pressurised situations
* Able to prioritise workload fluctuations and ask for support when needed
* Analytical, methodical and structured approach to fault finding
* Champions continuous improvement by seeking alternate or different ways of completing tasks
* Cross-functionally/collaboratively driven to support shared goals and objectives
