Overview
Lead Software Developer role at TieTalent in Stevenage. A proactive and passionate position within Weapon Systems Simulation and Experimentation (WSSE), delivering end-to-end representation of the weapon system.
Salary: Circa £65,000 depending on experience. Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification.
Security Clearance: British Citizen. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. After offer, all successful candidates will undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).
Location: Stevenage.

The opportunity
This is a hands-on role working with Project Leads, Simulation Architects and the wider MBDA project team. You will develop synthetic environments using the C family of programming languages, combining technical leadership, project management and team-building.
WSSE supports development across the full product life cycle, integrating real products, models and synthetic environments to provide visualisations, demonstrations, verification & validation, training capability and support.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Project Leads, Simulation Architects and MBDA project teams to develop synthetic environments.
* Provide technical leadership, contribute to project management and foster team development.
* Contribute to the MBDA development lifecycle and broader systems engineering initiatives.
* Develop capabilities for demonstrations, verification, validation, training and support across the product life cycle.
What we’re looking for
* A Lead Software Engineer who is adaptable and creative in leading a small software development team and advancing the technical development of synthetic environments / simulation components for MBDA weapon systems.
* Strong background in software (C# and C++), with an understanding of its real-world impact and a robust problem-solving approach.
* An open approach to software development, as code may be reused across multiple products and projects.
* Exposure to real-time software development and simulation standards (DIS and HLA) is advantageous but not crucial.
