Job overview

The Practice Educator within the Nursing & Patient Experience team operates as an autonomous service designed primarily to span trust learners.

The purpose of this post is to support learning and education in Undergraduate Nursing.

The post holder will oversee all pre registered nurses in the Trust, working alongside our clinical education teams, ward managers, assessors and supervisors and our external partners. They will provide an undergraduate curriculum to compliment the University course plans from year one to year three.

We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated registered nurse to work in the field of clinical education. You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of clinical settings, network across 11 higher education institutes, and support the future nursing workforce by increasing placement areas. You will be supported in a passionate and friendly team of nurse educators, and actively encouraged to further your development in the role.

The successful candidate will have proven clinical experience as an experienced Band 6 or 7 and significant experience of working with and developing staff and student nurses.


Main duties of the job

The Practice Educator within the Nursing & Patient Experience team operates as an
autonomous service designed primarily to support one of the following undergraduate
nurses, new graduate practitioners, international nurse education, leadership, and CPD for nurses.

The purpose of this post is to:

- Support learning and education in Undergraduate Nursing.
- To provide effective leadership and operational management to the Student Practice
Facilitator (SPF) team
- To act as a role model and expert practitioner
- To recruit and retain a skilled SPF team
- Facilitate the development of all staff within the team
- Work alongside the other Practice Educators in Undergraduate Nursing for cover Placement Mapping and Practice Assessors and Supervisors
- To provide an innovative and progressive approach to the continual improvement of the
student practice experience and practice learning environments through research and
evidence-based practice.

* Registered Nurse, with paediatric experience
* Assessor/Supervisor certification
* Evidence of on-going professional development within the clinical speciality
* Teaching qualification (PG Certificate Practice Education or equivalent) or willingness to undertake


Desirable criteria

* Postgraduate degree qualification


Experience/Knowledge


Essential criteria

* Demonstrable experience either within clinical education or the clinical environment
* Experience of coordinating and managing either staff or patients
* Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
* Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
* Understanding of inter-professional education and NMC Pre Reg Standards (2018)
* Understanding of professional and current issues in children’s nursing
* Management of poor performance

* Previous experience of research and audit
