Job Summary
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for a permanent Consultant post, specialising in spines.
The successful candidate will further enhance the effective department with their specialist skills and experience, with opportunities to inform the continual development of the spinal service. Working 10 sessions, with an additional two by mutual agreement, the post will support the trauma service, including on-call responsibilities and fracture clinics, and the elective demand, delivering outpatient activity and independent theatre list.
Services are delivered at a range of sites including the Royal Gwent Hospital, County Hospital and the Grange University Hospital Trust. It is important to be aware that work patterns may change and the place(s) of duties modified.
The post is specifically provided to support improvements against the Welsh Government treatment guidelines for treatment and outpatient pathways.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include the delivery of specialist spinal treatment pathways across trauma and elective pathways.
To participate in the Consultant weekend rota and be responsible for the inpatient care orthopaedic services, providing daily specialist advice to the staff in the admissions unit. The post holder will be responsible for providing liaison support once a week, working as part of a dedicated team.
Working in a leadership and teaching role in multidisciplinary outpatient clinics.
Supporting the trauma service as a dedicated team member with on-call responsibilities.
To assist and participate with the development of postgraduate training for F1s, F2s, SpRs, STs and other staff as appropriate.
