Senior Architectural Technologist
About the role
A well-established architecture practice is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Architectural Technologist to lead the delivery of technically complex projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of architectural technical design and coordination, driving project success through RIBA Work Stages 3–6, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the production of detailed architectural drawings and coordinated work packages using Revit, ensuring accuracy and compliance from developed design through to construction.
2. Develop and oversee comprehensive technical specifications using NBS Chorus, ensuring full compliance with UK building regulations and client requirements.
3. Produce advanced 3D visuals and illustrations to support design development, planning submissions, and client presentations.
4. Manage and coordinate effectively with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring smooth integration of technical information throughout the construction process.
5. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior technologists, fostering professional growth and maintaining high standards across the team.
6. Represent the practice at Design Team Meetings, collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and consultants to resolve complex design and technical challenges.
7. Contribute to project management activities including programme tracking, risk management, and quality assurance.
Key Skills & Experience:
8. Extensive experience and proven expertise in Revit, demonstrating advanced technical detailing and BIM coordination on complex projects.
9. Proficient in producing specifications using NBS Chorus.
10. Deep knowledge of UK Building Regulations and extensive experience working within the RIBA Plan of Work, particularly Stages 3–6.
11. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior staff effectively.
12. Excellent communication skills, able to liaise confidently with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
13. Highly organised with excellent problem-solving abilities and experience managing competing priorities under tight deadlines.
