SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) – Winchester, Hampshire
Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of young people with autism and learning difficulties?
A secondary school in Winchester is seeking a dedicated full-time SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their resource base from September 2025 or October 2025. This exciting role offers the chance to support students in their learning journey while developing your own career, with the possibility of securing a permanent contract after a successful probation period. This is to work in the school’s resource base, which caters for students with autism and learning difficulties. Happy to consider people from the care background who have SEN experience.
Key Responsibilities of the SEN LSA:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism and Learning Difficulties.
* Assist teachers in adapting and delivering lessons to suit individual needs.
* Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
* Support students’ social, emotional, and communication development.
* Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to deliver effective support.
Requirements of the SEN LSA:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in education or care.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging behaviours.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
* A genuine interest in helping students reach their goals.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
