Role Summary
The Data Migration Lead is responsible for defining, planning, and executing all data migration activities required for a successful ServiceNow TPSM (Technology Provider Service Management) implementation. This role ensures that all relevant details accurately extracted, transformed, validated, and loaded into ServiceNow in alignment with business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Planning
Develop and own the data migration strategy, scope, and detailed migration plan for the TPSM implementation.
Identify all in-scope data objects, legacy systems, dependencies, and required transformation rules.
Define data quality standards, mapping templates, and acceptance criteria.
2. Data Mapping & Design
Lead workshops with business and technical teams to define source-to-target mappings.
Translate ServiceNow TPSM data model requirements into practical migration rules.
Ensure alignment with integrations, configuration, and ServiceNow platform architecture.
3. Data Extraction, Transformation & Loading (ETL)
Oversee data extraction from legacy systems or spreadsheets.
Manage development and execution of ETL scripts or tooling (e.g., ServiceNow Import Sets, MID Server, APIs).
Coordinate load cycles for SIT, UAT, and production environments.
4. Data Quality & Validation
Run data profiling and cleansing activities to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance.
Lead validation cycles with business SMEs, resolving issues and addressing data gaps.
Manage reconciliation, error logs, and sign-off of migrated data.
5. Testing & Cutover
Support testing teams during SIT/UAT, ensuring data readiness for every iteration.
Plan and execute cutover migration activities, including freeze windows, delta loads, and final validation.
Ensure post-go-live data integrity through hypercare and stabilization.
Key Competencies
Proven experience leading data migration workstreams in enterprise IT transformations where ServiceNow is the central platform.
Strong understanding of ServiceNow TPSM data structures, Import Sets, transform maps, and mapping rules.
Proficiency with ETL tools, SQL, data profiling, and quality techniques.
Solid project coordination, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
