About the Programme
Our Apprentice Process Engineer Programme offers a blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of Severn Trent’s business while earning a Level 6 qualification in Science Industry Process.
Your role will let you gain practical experience across engineering and asset teams, develop your knowledge of Severn Trent, and work with our Process Engineering team to apply engineering principles, support product development and use project management skills to deliver solutions that meet time, cost and quality objectives.
Key responsibilities include: analysing and interpreting information, communicating data effectively to stakeholders, monitoring and optimising plant and equipment, applying project management procedures, and proposing innovative solutions to improve processes.
Learning Objectives
* Core engineering principles including mathematics and science and their application to process engineering.
* Engineering project management procedures and how to apply them in a scientific work environment.
* Monitoring and optimising plant, equipment and manufacturing assets to support current and future operations.
* Understanding the business environment in which Severn Trent operates, including ethical practice and codes of conduct.
Qualifications and Requirements

Programme Details
Location: Raynesway, Derby, Derbyshire, DE21 7BE
Standard: Science Industry Process
Apprenticeship Level: 6
Duration: 60 months
Starting Salary: £23,500
Entry Criteria: Three A Levels at CCC or above including a Mathematics‑based subject and a STEM subject, or equivalent BTECs
Driving Requirements: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
You will work 37/40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, across shifts: 7am – 3.30pm, 7am – 3pm or 8am – 4pm. Full details of the working pattern will be provided during assessments.
