Project Manager, Enterprise Change

Cardiff / London or Southampton (with travel to key offices as required)

Map Room are delighted to be assisting a valued client in recruiting a Project Manager to support their Enterprise Change initiative. The client is a leading UK bank that is experiencing rapid expansion and has a commendable internal culture.

The Project Manager will lead and manage a portfolio of critical business and technology initiatives. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our growth and help redefine banking. You will be responsible for the comprehensive delivery of complex projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• End-to-End Project Delivery: Manage the entire project lifecycle from initiation and planning through to execution, monitoring, control, and closure. This includes defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.

• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including executive leadership, product owners, engineering teams, operations, legal, compliance, and third-party vendors. Effective communication and influencing skills are crucial.

• Planning and Execution: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and dependencies. Track progress against key milestones, identify and manage risks and issues, and ensure timely resolution.

• Risk and Compliance Management: Continuously monitor project risks, implement effective mitigation strategies, and ensure that all project activities comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk appetite, especially in a regulated financial services environment.

• Financial Management: Monitor and control project budgets, track expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure projects deliver measurable business benefits.

• Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, foster a collaborative environment, and ensure effective coordination across interdependent workstreams. You may also coach and support junior team members.

• Reporting and Governance: Prepare and deliver timely and informative project reports, including status updates for steering committees and portfolio leads, while ensuring that all project documentation is comprehensive and well-maintained.

• Change Management: Manage the impact of changes in projects on the organisation and its customers, ensuring seamless transitions and the adoption of new processes or technologies.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Project Manager (typically 5+ years) successfully delivering complex business and/or technology projects, preferably within the financial services or fintech sectors.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.

• Strong proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, Hybrid approaches) and the ability to adapt your approach to meet project needs.

• Demonstrable experience in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation within a project context.

• Solid understanding of financial principles, project budgeting, and cost control.

• Excellent leadership qualities, with the ability to motivate, manage, and guide project teams to achieve desired outcomes.

• A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently and know when to escalate.

• Ability to work under pressure, manage competing demands, and meet tight deadlines.

• Digitally literate and passionate about leveraging technology to improve processes and customer experiences.
