About the Role We’re looking for a skilled RMTC Test Technician to join our state-of-the-art Rig Measurement & Test Centre (RMTC). In this role, you’ll be responsible for the preparation, instrumentation, and installation of Units Under Test (UUTs), as well as conducting a variety of prototype tests and delivering accurate, high-quality results to our customer engineering teams. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with multiple departments, supporting different projects depending on workload and business priorities — from durability and warranty work to calibration, research, and performance testing. Location: Coventry Contract Type: 3-6 month contract Salary/Rate: £24.00 per hour (Outside IR35) Monday - Friday What You’ll Do Prepare test rigs, install UUTs, and carry out testing to customer specifications. Interpret detailed work instructions and ensure all measurements and data are recorded accurately. Operate data acquisition systems and precision measurement tools. Conduct dimensional inspections of components. Support test disciplines including durability, warranty, certification, calibration, research, performance, and economy. Follow safe working practices in line with the company’s ‘Destination Zero’ policies. Use and develop skills with specialist systems including AVL Puma 2.0, iGEM, PUC/Concerto, and emissions testing equipment (training provided). What You’ll Need Essential: NVQ Level 3 / apprenticeship in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering plus at least 3 years’ relevant technical experience. Functional Skills Level 2 (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science. Strong technical understanding of rig testing and motor vehicle technology. Computer literate, with Microsoft Office proficiency. Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively with colleagues and customers. Desirable: Experience working with prototype braking systems. Familiarity with automated test cells and fault diagnosis. Understanding of quality standards, COSHH, and H&S best practices. Knowledge of calibration tools, diagnostic software, and emissions measurement. Who You Are A collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills.
