This post offers a unique opportunity to work in an immigration removal centre environment, providing primary care within a multidisciplinary team.
We seek a qualified, experienced nurse or paramedic to work within an integrated healthcare model. The ideal candidate will be a team player, working closely with residents, the healthcare team, and immigration services to deliver comprehensive care.
The role involves responding to emergencies, screening residents, triage, and working with other agencies to ensure holistic care.
Experience in immigration removal centres or secured environments is desirable but not essential. We offer an extensive supernumerary period, training opportunities, and encouragement for professional development.
Main duties of the job
1. Assess and manage residents' care independently in a secure environment.
2. Utilize the NEWS 2 assessment tool effectively.
3. Maintain accurate healthcare records through excellent communication skills.
4. Administer medications in line with NHFT policies.
5. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective care.
6. Participate in team meetings and clinical audits.
7. Advise on management of complex medical issues.
8. Communicate with residents with respect and empathy.
9. Support clinical governance and data collection activities.
10. Conduct risk assessments and respond appropriately to behavioral or medical risks.
11. Ensure electronic records are accurately maintained.
12. Adapt to a fast-paced, multi-level environment.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will ensure high-quality, research-based care, respond to emergencies, screen residents, and lead nurse clinics. They will demonstrate leadership, oversee healthcare services in the absence of the clinical lead, participate in audits and research, supervise junior staff, and contribute to change initiatives, with an understanding of immigration issues.
Person Specification
Essential:
* RGN / Paramedic qualification, enrolled on NMC/HCPC register
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Effective time management in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
* Additional prescribed qualifications
* Knowledge of triage, minor injuries, or working in secure environments
* Experience with audits and report writing
Further qualities include empathy, ability to lead in emergencies, and effective assessment and escalation skills.
