Governance Manager (Term Time Only – 30 hours/week)
* Remote (occasional travel to Northampton HQ)
* £32,341 per annum (based on £45k FTE)
* 39 weeks per year – flexible around school terms
Are you an experienced governance professional looking for a part-time, term-time only role that offers genuine flexibility and meaningful impact?
We’re working with a professional membership body to recruit a Governance Manager — someone who thrives on structure, accuracy and supporting good governance across a busy and purposeful organisation.
About the role:
This is a key role ensuring the organisation’s governance and administration run smoothly and in line with legal, constitutional and regulatory obligations. You’ll oversee board and committee processes, maintain governance systems and documentation, and provide high-quality support to the senior leadership team. Your work will be central to making sure governance is not just compliant — but proactive, efficient, and trusted by the whole organisation.
What you’ll be doing:
* Managing and maintaining the annual governance calendar, ensuring meetings, elections and reporting deadlines are met.
* Coordinating board, committee and AGM meetings – preparing agendas, papers, minutes and action logs.
* Overseeing recruitment and induction of committee and trustee members.
* Maintaining governance records, registers and declarations of interest.
* Supporting compliance with the organisation’s constitution, bylaws and relevant legislation.
* Coordinating updates to risk registers, governance policies and SOPs.
* Acting as a first point of contact for member complaints, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
* Supporting governance reporting, continuous improvement, and best practice reviews
About you:
We’re looking for someone who’s:
* Experienced in administrative or governance roles within a membership body, charity or regulator.
* Confident supporting Boards and Committees and familiar with constitutional frameworks.
* Exceptionally organised, detail-oriented and calm under pressure.
* A clear and professional communicator with excellent minute-taking and report-writing skills.
* Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint and other governance tools.
* Proactive, reliable and naturally collaborative – but equally able to work independently.
Bonus points if you:
* Understand charity law or membership governance structures.
* Have experience with data management or GDPR processes.
* Enjoy finding smarter ways of working through technology and innovation.
Why this role?
* Term-time only: 39 working weeks per year – perfect if you’re looking to align with school holidays or prefer a defined annual schedule.
* Flexible hours: 30 hours per week (typically 6 hours/day, Monday–Friday). Standard hours are between 9am–5pm.
* Remote working, with occasional in-person planning days at HQ in Northampton.
Who will thrive here:
You’ll fit right in if you’re someone who:
* Tackles issues head-on and addresses challenges constructively.
* Is curious, confident, and solutions-driven
* Believes in doing things properly, with integrity, care and professionalism.
If you’re ready to bring structure and governance expertise to a high-impact membership organisation — while enjoying the flexibility to balance work and life — we’d love to hear from you.
Deadline for applications is 12pm on 17 November.
