Job Description:
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the pre-construction phase of infrastructure projects across various sectors.
This position requires an experienced Civil Estimator to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to analyse bid specifications, construction drawings, and technical documents.
* Analyse and interpret complex project documentation, including bid specifications, construction drawings, and technical documents.
* Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop detailed quantity take-offs from civil and structural drawings.
* Carry out accurate and competitive cost estimates from first principles for civils works on substations, cable routes, and power distribution projects.
* Evaluate labour, plant, and materials requirements based on site conditions and construction methodology.
* Identify potential commercial and delivery risks, propose mitigation strategies, and communicate impacts clearly during tender submissions.
Responsibilities:
* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials, plant, and civils packages.
* Prepare and cost enabling works, site clearance, temporary works, fencing, and utility diversions.
* Support value engineering initiatives by providing alternative construction methods or materials to reduce cost while maintaining compliance.
* Work closely with the wider pre-construction team to ensure technical and commercial alignment of bid proposals.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Civil Estimator or Construction Estimator within the utilities or infrastructure sectors.
* Track record of estimating civils, power, electrical, or renewable energy projects.
* Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (preferred).
* Strong knowledge of NEC3, NEC4, and FIDIC contracts.
* Proficient with estimating software and advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
* Confident communicator with the ability to interpret complex project documentation.
