Overview
Senior Operations Engineer, Global Engineering Services at Amazon Fulfillment. You will work with engineers to design, develop, and deliver physical distribution systems globally. You will manage technology or integration projects, collaborate with vendors, customers, and partners, and oversee schedules, risks, and engineering deliverables to meet project goals. This role requires responsiveness, flexibility, and the ability to thrive in an open collaborative environment with a high level of ownership.
Key job responsibilities
* Work independently with internal and external engineering teams to successfully deliver cross-functional projects that are high-quality (on-time, on-budget, maintainable, low-defects).
* Partner with project managers and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines.
* Influence technical documentation content, review documentation, and analyze system layouts and solutions.
* Represent system and/or equipment designs to customers and other teams.
* Communicate project status, answer questions in detail, and provide clear summaries of projects to leadership/management.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with vendors, engineers, managers, and peers.
* Participate in design reviews and support execution efforts between internal teams and outside vendors, including equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout.
* Efficiently manage budget documents, change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing.
* Build strong working relationships with FC/SC leadership and their operations teams across multiple sites, as well as with Launch, Facilities, Finance, Safety, Process Engineers, and other stakeholders.
* Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to support operations within a geographic node.
* Travel up to 50% domestically; travel intensity can be variable and may include up to three weeks in a row, including weekends.
Basic qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* 5+ years of experience directly managing and being responsible for multiple large projects
* Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment
Preferred qualifications
* Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field
* Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineering tools
* Fluency in French, Spanish, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans or Zulu
