The Role
You will maintain a range of building services, plant, and equipment, which can sometimes be complex and non-routine, by diagnosing and repairing faults as they occur. Other duties include maintaining NHSL’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, associated building services plant, and building fabric assets to a high standard. Responsibilities also include planning and prioritising workload, managing materials, and completing documentation for sign-off.

What you'll need to bring
* Completion of an apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Bias, plus an HNC or equivalent, with additional non-core training at SVQ level or equivalent
* Experience working in an estates service environment
* Knowledge of current statutory legislative requirements
* Experience in inspecting and planning for PPM and reactive maintenance
* Willingness to undertake relevant in-house training such as statutory courses, Archibus, Learnpro, and Toolbox Talks
* Additional training in portable appliance testing, periodic testing, sterilizers, asbestos awareness, legionella prevention, tube system maintenance, PLC controllers, steam/boilers, etc., to achieve competency or accreditation
* Accredited Boiler/Steam course for compliance with HSE and insurance requirements
* Specialist manufacturer courses for equipment like laundry machinery
* Training in Medical Gas systems, sterilizers, autoclaves, and healthcare ventilation to ensure competency
* A full, valid UK/EU/EEA driving license
* Availability for on-call duties as part of the team
Please note: a valid UK/EU/EEA driving license is required for all positions involving driving.
Preferred qualifications and experience
* Full apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with City & Guilds Part 3, ONC, or equivalent
* Basic health & safety, manual handling, and CPR training
* Experience maintaining complex building services, plant, and equipment
* Diagnosing faults in electrical and mechanical systems
* Experience in risk assessments and working across multiple premises
* Ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate workload and resources
* Knowledge of servicing and testing portable appliances
* Effective communication skills with diverse staff
Contract details
Permanent, full-time role, 37 hours per week.
Location and working pattern
Based at PSSD Maintenance, University Hospital Monklands. Working hours are: Mon-Wed 0800-1630; Thu 0800-1600; Fri 0800-1400.
