Locum Consultant - Sexual Health

We are seekinga part-time (7PAs) Consultant to joina dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking team. The department is currentlyinvolved in many exciting initiatives and are looking for individuals withappropriate skills to complement this team and help build the Service to be in theforefront of clinical excellence.

This is a newConsultant inSexual Health post createdto support existing team of oneGUMconsultant and one CSRH/ TOP Gynaecology consultant and workacross both areas. The post holder will work collaboratively with all the team,to further integrate the Sexual health service based in Sunderland.
Main duties of the job
This is a newpost for a part-time (0.7 WTE) Consultant in Sexual Health created to integrate the service further and to supportoversight of training within the department forGUM and cSRH trainees and for FSRH related training. They will providecomplex contraception/ coil clinics ( including nurse training clinics)and GUM clinics and other specialistclinics depending on personal skills to meet population and service demand.
The post holderwill contribute to clinical, teaching, audit and research support for thedepartment and management support for the medical staff and the department ingeneral.

The job planwill be negotiated between the consultant and their clinical director/lead atleast annually.

The successful candidate will be expected to workas a team member to deliver the service contract and to contribute towardsstrategic planning and development within the Directorate.
The Directorate has a proud record of deliveringthe contract within budget and aims to maintain this position. The post-holder will be professionallyresponsible for their particular patient workload but will also be responsiblefor colleagues patients while carrying out on-call work.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent and full GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
* On GMC Specialist Register or Specialty Trainee within 6 months of CCT or has submitted
* a CESR Application to the GMC
* MFSRH or MRCP
* Letter of Competency for Intrauterine techniques (LoC IUT)
* Letter of Competency for Sub-dermal implants (LoC SDI)
* Diploma in Genitourinary Medicine
* MRCOG
* Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate.
* Ability to take responsibility, lead and make decisions.
* Empathy, understanding, listening skills, patience and ability to work co-operatively with others.
* Able to change and adapt, respond to changing circumstances and to cope with setbacks or pressure.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Experience of performance management, developing and motivating staff.
