About the Role
Robert Half are excited to be working with well-established and fast-growing business who are seeking a Credit Controller to join its finance team. With a strong presence across the UK and Ireland, the organisation is built on a collaborative network of regional offices, delivering trusted support to SMEs.
This role plays a key part in managing customer accounts, driving timely collections, and reducing exposure to bad debt while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control Management
1. Monitor outstanding balances and ensure timely collection of overdue payments
2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account records
Debt Collection
3. Chase overdue invoices via phone, email, and written correspondence
4. Negotiate payment plans where required
5. Escalate accounts where necessary, working alongside legal representatives
6. Ensure all activity aligns with agreed payment terms and internal policies
Account Reconciliation & Receipting
7. Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts
8. Investigate and resolve discrepancies or queries efficiently
Reporting
9. Support the production of weekly and monthly reports on aged debt, cash flow, and risk
10. Provide insight into customer payment trends and credit exposure
Collaboration
11. Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve account queries
12. Liaise with finance teams to ensure accurate billing and invoicing processes
Compliance
13. Adhere to internal credit control policies and procedures
14. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practice in debt recovery
Key Requirements
15. Proven experience within Credit Control or a similar role
16. Strong understanding of credit management and collections processes
17. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
18. Ability to manage difficult conversations professionally
19. Strong organisational and time management skills
20. Competent in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting systems
