Position Details: This is a permanent full-time role with a shift pattern from Monday to Sunday, including long days and night shifts.
Renal services are seeking to recruit Band 5 nurses to join Ward 4C renal surgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The ward operates a 13-hour shift rotation for day and night shifts. Applications are invited from Registered General Nurses active on the NMC Register to join our enthusiastic and innovative team as Staff Nurses.
Ward 4C is a 15-bed kidney transplant and renal surgical ward, home to the west of Scotland Kidney Transplant Unit, which runs a busy live donor transplant program. It also houses the West of Scotland Renal Vascular Access Centre, providing care to a specialized patient group. The successful candidate will gain experience in kidney transplantation, renal vascular access procedures and complications, and haemodialysis treatment.
The renal services at QEUH include:
1. Ward 4A: 8 high-acuity beds and 12 general nephrology beds.
2. Ward 4D: General nephrology ward.
3. Renal Assessment Unit (RAU): Day care area for outpatient services.
New staff are supported through comprehensive renal education and competency training.
The successful candidate will:
* Assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate care programs in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives/carers, and team members to ensure patient needs are met.
Requirements include current NMC registration, evidence of professional development, basic IT skills, good communication skills, and enthusiasm for renal nursing.
