Job Description
Would you like to work 37½ hours over 4 days for a highly regarded, specialist manufacturer of high-end precision machined parts and components? If yes, then this could be your ideal role.
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week across 4 days (7:30am to 5pm, Monday–Thursday)
Pay: Rates are negotiable and discussed on an individual basis
Overtime: First 6 hours paid at time + 1/3, any additional hours paid at time + 1/2

The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly competent Sliding Head Lathe Programmer, Setter, and Operator to join a busy and varied production environment. The role involves working on Star Sliding Head machines (SR20, SV20, SR32J, SR20JII Type B), managing small batch runs and one-off prototypes using a range of complex materials.
Key Responsibilities
* Programming, setting, and operating sliding head lathes with Fanuc controls
* Machining a wide variety of components from different, sometimes difficult materials, to tight tolerances and finishing parts to specifications
* Producing high-quality parts to tight tolerances
* Interpreting complex technical drawings with attention to detail
* Running unmanned/lights-out machining processes where applicable
* Delivering quick changeovers and efficient setups
* Monitoring performance and outputs, recording results accurately
* Participating in continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience with Programming, Setting, and Operating Star Sliding Head machines
* Strong understanding of small-batch machining and quick turnarounds
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to read and understand complex drawings
* Good eye for detail and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work well within a team
