PRS Engineering has engaged with a new client, a world leading manufacturer of Special Purpose Machinery. Due to recent promotions, we now have an opportunity for a Lead Electrical Engineer with a background in design (electrical) and understanding of control systems, PLCs, and system software for collaboration between engineering departments. Ideally, you will have worked in a manufacturing environment of automation, automated equipment, and special purpose machinery.
About The Role
As Electrical Team Lead / Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing leadership to the Electrical Engineering team, ensuring high levels of service and customer satisfaction through innovative development of packaging and processing machinery systems, utilizing electrical engineering principles.
Key responsibilities:
1. Coordinate work schedules for the team, including resource planning and task delegation.
2. Establish excellent relationships with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
3. Manage design projects, ensuring all milestones are met.
4. Develop electrical designs for primary products and new projects in collaboration with other departments.
5. Work closely with Software Engineers to develop PLC and PC programs for systems or machines.
6. Collaborate with customers and Technical Support to resolve electrical issues and report findings.
7. Ensure documentation meets UKCA and CE compliance standards for machine electrics.
8. Travel to customer sites and company locations to support and develop equipment as needed.
Qualification and Experience:
* Minimum 8 to 10 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in special purpose machine design or manufacturing.
* Knowledge of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and machinery safety regulations BS EN ISO 13849 & BS EN 60204-1:2018.
* Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens equipment.
* UL requirements and certification of control panels to UL standards.
* Designing safety circuits to required PL/SIL ratings.
* Using safety system verification tools and data (e.g., Sistema).
* Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
* Previous experience managing and building a team.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
