Overview
We are working with an established and highly respected organisation within the built environment sector, seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership across a range of complex and innovative structural projects.
This is a senior role combining technical expertise, team leadership, and strategic input, offering the opportunity to influence project delivery, client relationships, and long-term capability development.
The Role
As Lead Structural Engineer, you will take ownership of structural engineering activities, leading both project delivery and technical direction. You will act as a key point of expertise within the team, supporting complex enquiries and contributing to the wider growth of the function.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage structural engineering activities aligned to project objectives and growth plans
* Oversee project delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant BS and EN standards
* Develop and interpret structural testing regimes (static and dynamic)
* Manage and coordinate laboratory-based testing activities
* Provide guidance and leadership to engineers, technicians, and supporting teams
* Act as the technical authority on complex structural matters
* Support client engagement and contribute to business development activities
* Oversee inspection, analysis, and reporting across UK construction methods
* Contribute to the ongoing strategic development of the engineering team
Requirements
* Strong knowledge of BS / EN standards and codes
* Proven experience in structural behaviour and mechanics
* Experience managing or mentoring technical teams
* Strong technical reporting and proposal writing capability
* Good understanding of UK construction methods
* Experience or exposure to structural fire engineering
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, FEA tools, and MS Office
* Commercial awareness and ability to support client-facing activity
