The Hardware Support Engineer is part of the Technical Operations Hardware team which leads the Hardware Support Process to achieve operational excellence in the Siemens EDA emulation product line.
Key Responsibilities:
1. The Hardware Support Engineer supports the emulation of products from installation to service retirement. The engineer actively engages with customers to install, diagnose, and repair hardware, providing related support services.
2. Maintain system uptime by quickly resolving hardware issues and improving system reliability. Collaborate with Operations, Quality, R&D, Sales, and Application Engineering teams globally. The role requires electrical test and software engineering skills due to the advanced technology of our products.
3. Ensure the technical functionality of products throughout their lifecycle. Manage faulty hardware dispositions, maintain inventory of spare parts, update systems for accurate data, and communicate across teams. Support operations by collecting reports and data for a global monitoring system.
4. Perform site surveys to ensure electrical and environmental conditions meet requirements before hardware delivery. Responsible for unboxing, moving, assembling hardware, loading software, and initial testing upon hardware arrival.
5. Attend to service calls, which may involve onsite presence or travel to customer sites. May also handle basic IT system administration tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Bachelor’s degree in electronics or software engineering, or equivalent experience.
2. Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex electronics hardware.
3. Proficiency with Linux OS and Microsoft Windows.
4. Experience with high-speed serial data systems.
5. Strong technical communication, analytical problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
6. Ability to follow technical instructions in writing and verbally.
7. Experience handling electronic parts with proper grounding procedures.
8. Experience working directly with customers.
9. Knowledge of server and network technology is highly desirable.
10. Valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel on short notice.
11. Ability to work in remote locations and communicate with multidisciplinary teams.
12. Physical strength to move 50-70 pounds and work long hours on feet in a lab/data center environment. Ability to reach and work in awkward positions when attaching cables and boards.
