Role Overview

As an FE Lecturer in Early Years and Education at University of Derby Buxton, you will play a vital role in delivering high‑quality teaching and learning across a range of programmes, including Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. This includes contributing to the development of learners preparing for careers in early childhood education, primary education, and related sectors.


Responsibilities

* Deliver high‑quality teaching and learning across Level 2 and Level 3 programmes, including early childhood education, primary education and related sectors.
* Act as Course Leader, coordinate the programme, track attendance and progress, and apply appropriate and supportive interventions when needed.
* Play an active role in curriculum development, ensuring the provision remains current and aligned with sector standards.
* Participate in recruitment activities, open events and external moderation processes; maintain accurate records, support learner progress and uphold high standards of safeguarding, quality assurance and student support.
* Collaborate with colleagues to continually enhance teaching practices and learner outcomes.


Qualifications

* Experienced educator with a strong understanding of early years education, child development and educational practice.
* Relevant degree or professional qualification; ideally a recognised teaching qualification (or working towards one).
* Background in delivering high‑quality, engaging teaching to post‑16 learners.
* Up‑to‑date knowledge of current developments in the early years and education sector, national frameworks, safeguarding requirements and progression pathways into employment or higher education.
* Desirable experience in coordinating programmes, supporting students on work placements and contributing to quality assurance processes.
* Effective communication, organisational and pastoral skills; reflective practitioner; commitment to inclusive education; continuous professional development; and readiness to contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
