Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance, reliability, and asset management activities across one of ADM’s most significant industrial complexes in Europe. Located in Erith (UK), the site includes rapeseed crushing, edible oil refining, and port operations, operating in a high-volume, continuous production environment. This role requires a highly skilled technical leader, capable of managing complex mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, utilities, and facilities systems. The Maintenance Manager ensures operational reliability, minimizes unplanned downtime, and embeds preventive and predictive maintenance best practices aligned with ADM global standards. The role oversees a multidisciplinary maintenance organization, including both ADM employees and key third-party contractors.
Your Responsibilities
• Champion a strong safety culture across the maintenance organization, ensuring full compliance with ADM’s Health & Safety policies and UK regulations (PUWER, LOLER, COMAH, etc.).
• Ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations and support proactive compliance with UK standards (, IPPC permits).
• Embed a food safety mindset in all maintenance operations, with focus on contamination prevention and compliance with hygiene standards relevant to edible oils and feed materials.
• Lead and develop the maintenance and reliability team across all technical disciplines (Mechanical, E&I, Utilities, Facilities, Planning, Stores).
• Ensure optimal team structure, technical capability, and continuous skills development.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Manage annual maintenance CAPEX and OPEX budgets effectively and transparently.
• Drive bad actor elimination and implement structured reliability improvements.
• Lead KPI-driven performance management (, MTTR, PM compliance, maintenance cost/ton).
• Optimize spare parts management and storeroom performance according to best practices.
• Lead the planning and execution of annual plant shutdowns.
• Work closely with Engineering to integrate Design for Reliability principles into new projects and plant modifications.
• Actively partner with the Reliability Technical Center (RTC) EMEAI to ensure alignment and deployment of best maintenance and reliability methodologies.
• Strengthen cross-functional collaboration with Production, HSE, Procurement, Engineering, and global/regional R&M stakeholders.
• Coach, develop, and retain a high-performing and safety-focused technical team.
Your Profile
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Track record of successfully maintaining leadership within large industrial plants operating with similar technologies and continuous processes.
• Demonstrated technical strength in mechanical and E&I domains.
• Experience with CMMS systems (preferably IBM Maximo), maintenance KPIs, RCA, and reliability methodologies (RCM, FMEA).
• Robust leadership skills, with experience in organizational design and change management.
• Proactive, pragmatic, hands-on leader with outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
