Business Development Manager – Renewables Technology Manufacturer

Salary:
£40,000-£45,000 (+ quarterly bonuses in line with meeting/exceeding sales targets)
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead the growth and market expansion of our solar panel solutions. This is a high-impact role working directly with the CEO to develop and execute strategies that increase product specification, drive sales, and build lasting relationships across the construction and renewable energy sectors.
You will be at the forefront of promoting cutting-edge building-integrated photovoltaic products, working with architects, developers, manufacturers, and installers to deliver innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
This role will be covering the Southern sales region of England, eventually covering London as the role progresses.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Market Development
* Drive national sales of solar products and solutions.
* Identify and secure product specifications through engagement with architects, consultants, and developers.
* Develop tailored proposals and quotations, supporting projects from concept through to completion.
* Represent the company at exhibitions, industry shows, and networking events.
Prospecting & Lead Generation
* Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities, using tools such as Glenigan, ABI, planning portals, and industry databases.
* Proactively target architectural practices, M&E consultants, self-builders, housing associations, and sustainability-focused organisations.
* Build a robust pipeline through social media, email marketing, and direct outreach.
* Issue monthly bulletins and promotional materials to maintain engagement and awareness.
Client Support & Technical Engagement
* Provide CPD seminars to architectural and construction professionals across the UK.
* Work closely with technical teams to deliver energy output modelling, ROI assessments, and budget estimates.
* Produce and supply standard and bespoke CAD drawings in collaboration with manufacturing partners.
* Support sales colleagues with client meetings, site visits, and technical presentations.
Channel Development
* Recruit, train and support a network of approved installers and manufacturing partners to expand product reach.
* Build and maintain strong relationships across the supply chain, from design to installation.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven track record in business development or sales ideally within the roofing, construction, or renewable energy sectors.
* Strong commercial and strategic mindset with experience driving national sales growth.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across multiple functions.
* IT literate, with experience using CRM and lead generation tools.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with solar technology, building-integrated photovoltaics or broader renewables market.
* Understanding of roof design and construction; CAD capability is a plus.
* Knowledge of modern manufacturing and installation practices.
