Job Summary
Deputy Director of Nursing – Royal London Hospital & Mile End Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust.
The role reports directly to the Hospital Director of Nursing and supports the delivery of the professional nursing agenda. It focuses on quality, end‑of‑life care, mental health education, governance, professional practice, research and innovation, and patient experience.
Full‑time permanent role with flexible working.
Responsibilities
* Provide strong professional leadership across all care settings.
* Encourage innovation, creativity and strategic thinking about service provision and staff experience.
* Support the delivery of the professional nursing agenda.
* Play a key role in the wider Barts Health NMAHP leadership community.

Qualifications
Essential
* Significant nursing leadership experience at senior level.
* Evidence of senior managerial responsibilities and operational experience in an acute setting.
* Ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical, workable solutions.
* Capable of critical thinking and problem solving.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and in person).
* Honed leadership through influence skills.
* Good analytical and organisational ability.
* Ability to influence and facilitate MDT working.
* Awareness of developments in the NHS and service delivery.
* Ability to develop or source professional development materials.
* First‑level registered nurse (child, adult or midwife).
* Evidence of ongoing, relevant postgraduate education.
Desirable
* Masters level education or equivalent.
* Management/Leadership qualification.
