Teaching Assistant (Level 2) - SEN Focus (Full Time)
Location: Bolton (BL1 postcode area)
Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour
Start Date: May Half Term
Duration: Until the end of the academic year (with potential to continue into the next academic year)
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and experienced Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the BL1 area of Bolton. This role has a strong focus on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a Key Stage 1 (KS1) setting.
Starting from May half term, this is a full‑time position through to the end of the academic year, with the opportunity to continue into the next academic year for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will play a key role in helping children with additional needs access learning, develop confidence, and thrive in a nurturing classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated support to pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
* Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs and abilities
* Support pupils with a range of needs (ASD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH)
* Deliver and reinforce phonics sessions tailored to pupils requiring additional support
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP targets and strategies
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
* Monitor progress and provide feedback on pupil development
Requirements
* Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential
* Experience working within KS1
* Strong understanding of phonics and experience delivering interventions
* Knowledge of different SEN needs and strategies to support them effectively
* A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
* Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* All applicants will require appropriate qualifications and training for this role
All applicants must have a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and are provided with child protection training.
