About the Company
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading energy management consultancy based in Salford, providing innovative energy solutions to a diverse client base across the UK and internationally. The business is undergoing a phase of sustained growth and is now seeking a strategic and people-focused Head of Account Management to lead its key accounts function.
The Role
This position leads a team of 7 Account Managers (6 UK-based, 1 international). Managing a volume of key accounts with a combined value of £40-50m pa. Responsible for the ongoing growth and retention of key strategic client relationships. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee client engagement strategies, coach and develop your team, and directly influence revenue expansion. Youll also play a crucial role in the evolution of the broader commercial strategy with a clear path toward a future Commercial Manager role.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy
Define the account management strategy, segmentation, and engagement model
Drive revenue growth and client retention across the key accounts portfolio
Standardise and embed best practice tools and playbooks for account planning, renewals, and reviews
Align with Sales and Operations on go-to-market planning and client success initiatives
Client Ownership & Senior Engagement
Act as executive sponsor for the companys top-tier accounts
Lead key meetings: onboarding, business reviews, renewals, escalations, and growth discussions
Build strong relationships with C-level and senior stakeholders
Team Development & Coaching
Lead and coach a high-performing team of account managers
Conduct regular 1:1s, provide structured feedback, and guide on high-stakes client meetings
Create individual KPIs, development plans, and manage performance
Deliver training sessions focused on sales techniques, client communications, and commercial strategy
Operational & Commercial Oversight
Oversee forecasting, account planning, and reporting for the function
Monitor client satisfaction, usage, and retention metrics (NPS, CSAT, revenue growth)
Champion CRM and operational systems for visibility and data accuracy
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to align efforts and improve client delivery
Feed strategic client insights into the business roadmap and innovation pipeline
Person Profile
5+ years in account management or commercial roles, with 3+ years leading a team
Proven experience owning and expanding senior client relationships (VP/C-level)
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop talent for improved client and business outcomes
Commercially driven, with a strong grasp of revenue metrics and forecasting
Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Knowledge of the energy market is advantageous but not essential
Package & Benefits
£65,000 £70,000 basic salary
Commission scheme with OTE exceeding £100,000
