What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
* Managing Contract Delivery - ensuring the council’s Leisure and Heritage contracts deliver the expected services and outcomes.
* Stakeholder Engagement and Communications - acting as an ambassador for Somerset Council and developing collaborative approaches with internal and external stakeholders to improve cultural and leisure outcomes.
* Financial Management - effective management of the Culture & Leisure contracts / grant funding (and bids where appropriate opportunities arise) / project budgets.
* Providing Subject Matter Expertise for the council - providing strategic direction, advice, insight, guidance, and supporting on policies and strategies relating to Culture/Heritage and Leisure.
* Project / Programme Management - contributing to and where appropriate leading the planning and delivery of projects and specialist initiatives – both those delivered by the Council, or in partnership with external organisations.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
* Knowledge of the leisure and cultural sectors.
* Contract management experience relating to high risk and value contracts.
* Experience in managing / delivering or contributing to cross agency projects (preferably within the leisure or culture sector).
* Understanding of stakeholder engagement and partnership development - with experience in negotiating with and influencing a wide range of colleagues, partners / suppliers and stakeholders, with tact and diplomacy.
* Experience in budget management and financial planning, along with securing funding and managing grants.
