Your role in the team

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic software and security team. This role focuses on designing and developing security tools and products with user-friendly interfaces that provide seamless functionality and exceptional user experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Java to develop RESTful APIs and ReactJS to develop intuitive and responsive UIs.

In this role, you will be responsible for building and enhancing both front-end and backend components of our applications. Your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Digital Product Managers and Managing Engineers, while sharing knowledge with more junior team members will be crucial in delivering high-quality solutions and developing this cutting-edge team. You will also be expected to help drive the team forward with innovative ideas and problem solving


Key Responsibilities

* Actively learn different technologies as needed for delivery of stories
* Adhere to Allstate best practices (for example, pair programming and test-driven development) and hold others accountable for the same
* Embrace approach of making collaborative, fast, local decisions; then course correct as/if needed (test/learn/iterate)
* Active participation in regular agile meetings (e.g., site standup, product team standup, iteration planning meeting, retrospective, lunch & learns)
* Actively work to transfer knowledge of Allstate development practices and technical skills to other people (including delivery areas) to grow adoption
* Develop code should promote principles of 12 factor apps, availability, scalability, maintainability and security
* Participate in inceptions and iteration planning meetings, infusing backlogs with technical input working in close partnership with the product manager
* Coaches the team and leads daily practices of using paired programming and test-driven development in writing software and building products
* Partners in collaboration and strategy alignment across product portfolios (cross-product) in partnership with product managers, other peers and key stakeholders
* Provides support for software products in user environments

Essential Skills

* All applicants must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this vacancy
* 3+ years of experience In Java/J2EE development, with exposure to REST API design and implementation using IntelliJ IDEA.
* 2+ Years of experience with Spring Framework, ReactJS, and NodeJS.
* Exposure to tools like GitHub for version control
* Solid understanding of SQL Server Databases
* Comfortable working in Agile environments, with familiarity in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and collaborative coding practices.

Desirable Skills

* Security specific training (related to Secure coding and Security +)
* Solution design training
* Previously working in an AI driven team
* Knowledge of NIST framework and how controls work.
