About the Role: As a Full-Time Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. A significant part of your role will involve providing tailored support to pupils with a variety of SEND. Your responsibilities will include: Classroom Support: Working alongside the class teacher to support the delivery of lessons across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Assisting with classroom organisation, preparing resources, and maintaining a positive learning environment. Supporting the teacher with managing classroom behaviour. Supporting Pupils with SEND: Providing 1:1 support to individual pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), which may include but is not limited to: Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Leading or assisting with small group interventions to support pupils' specific learning needs, including literacy and numeracy support. Implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or support plans, adapting strategies to meet individual pupil needs. Monitoring and recording pupil progress against their targets and contributing to review meetings. Supporting Learning and Development: Supporting pupils' engagement in learning activities, encouraging independence and participation. Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. Providing emotional support and promoting positive social interactions among pupils. Collaboration and Communication: Working effectively as part of the school team, collaborating with teachers, the SENDCo, and other support staff. Communicating relevant information about pupil progress and well-being to the class teacher and SENDCo. Potentially liaising with parents/carers under the direction of the class teacher or SENDCo. Candidate Profile: We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant with experience in a primary school setting and a strong understanding of supporting pupils with SEND. The ideal candidate will possess: Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, ideally across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Proven experience and understanding of supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). A patient, nurturing, and understanding approach to working with children. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Resilience and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments and pupil needs. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday during term time. Qualifications: Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3) or demonstrable equivalent experience is highly desirable.
