Consultant – Energy & Emissions Excellence
To efficiently support the expansion of SLR's Energy & Emissions Excellence team in Europe, and to deliver tangible sustainability and decarbonisation outcomes to SLR's clients, we are looking for new colleagues.
The team
The Energy & Emissions Excellence team, part of SLR's Energy Advisory practice, provides advisory and implementation support services to energy offtakers, developers and investors. The role is part of a European wide team that collaborates across offices in Europe (and globally) on a daily basis.
With a strong track record of working with multinational organisations, the team delivers business value and impact to clients by advising on and realizing desired outcomes on energy economics, energy security, and emission management across clients' operations and supply chains. The transition levers addressed include energy management, electrification, renewables, low-carbon fuels & feedstocks, green heat, low-carbon fleet, carbon sinks as well as waste-to-energy. In Europe, the priority sectors include food & beverage, consumer products, life sciences, metals & materials, chemicals, glass & ceramics, paper & pulp, and automotive.
The team supports clients from strategy to execution, tailoring services to where they matter most:
* "Insight & foresight" on carbon footprints, regulation & compliance, technologies & solutions, and market developments;
* "Strategy & planning" for target & ambition setting, business & operating model change, value chain evolutions, technology choices, investment planning, and roadmap & program design;
* "Solution & commitment" including asset concept design, energy system modelling and optimization, energy procurement, solution costing, business case approval, funding, and supplier & contract evaluation;
* "Execution & realization" including tender management, capital raising, and owner's engineer activities;
* "Transformation" such as stakeholder management, change management, capability sourcing, organisation & governance change, digitisation, and program management.
The role
As a Consultant within the Energy & Emissions Excellence team, you will be part of a cross-country and cross-sector team working on projects that directly optimise energy use, reduce carbon emission and optimize economics of our clients. You will contribute to client engagements as well as internal initiatives, supporting the success of the Energy & Emissions Excellence team through your personal commitment.
You will support Project Managers and the wider team in leading delivery of workstreams within larger projects, ensuring model quality and developing recommendations. You will ensure efficient data gathering and structuring, and produce insights, recommendations and action plans for our clients, managing client relationship and expectations.
Your Role Includes
* Energy & Emissions Excellence project delivery:
* Develop and present assessment of technology options within applicable regulatory and market context and outlook.
* Participate to site visits to develop real-world understanding of the site energy system
* Lead model development and definition of digital twins of a site energy systems, future energy consumption and emissions, and related costs.
* Define and evaluate scenarios with an integrated view on energy sourcing and deployment of new assets, based on total cost of ownership, and ensure quality of deliverables
* Develop and deliver optimal energy & infrastructure transition plan for the site, and optimal financing & contracting models to realize the plan.
* Contribute to client strategic reflexion on initiatives to decarbonize their supply chain (scope 3 carbon reductions), developing innovative insetting schemes and capturing commercial opportunities in delivering low carbon product.
* Contribute to business development of Energy & Emissions Excellence Support the development of impactful proposals, leveraging your sector and market experience
* Contribute to people and skills development within the Energy & Emissions Excellence team Research to expand/update team's databases on decarbonization levers and regulation, market study/benchmarking, etc Lead interns and Analysts and support their development through coaching and mentoring
The role is based in Brussels, Düsseldorf or London, and can be part-time.

About You
You have 3 - 5 years of professional experience in sustainability and decarbonisation and bring consulting skills: an analytical mindset to understand client needs, creativity to design tailored solutions, and the ability to turn strategic ideas into practical actions.
* You hold a university degree (Master's/PhD) in environmental sciences, engineering, business, or economics.
* You have experience carrying out data-driven technical and economic analyses of energy systems, especially in areas such as energy efficiency, green technologies, and industrial energy processes.
* You are fluent (min C1-level) in English and in at least one of the following languages: German, Dutch, or French, both written and spoken.
* You are motivated to join our Energy & Emissions Excellence team in Brussels, Düsseldorf, or London, and contribute to a collaborative and supportive environment.
* You are open to occasional travel within Europe.
