The Utilities Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing on-site teams in civil infrastructure and utility projects. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing works in line with project programmes, health and safety standards, quality requirements, and client expectations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical knowledge of utilities and civil engineering works, and the ability to deliver complex projects efficiently.
MAIN DUTIES
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee on-site activities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards.
* Lead, manage, and motivate the on-site team, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
* Plan, allocate, and control resources, materials, and equipment to meet project programmes.
* Supervise or carry out groundworks, trenching, backfilling, and installation of infrastructure, ducts, and services as authorised.
* Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and communicate method statements to the workforce.
* Coordinate with other trades, manage materials, and report on project progress.
* Inspect works, identify non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
* Ensure all permits, registers, and PPE requirements are in place and adhered to.
* Promote health and safety awareness, brief the workforce, and ensure safe work practices.
* Proactively adapt plans to changing circumstances and notify the Project Manager of major impacts.
* Assess work activities to ensure tasks are completed in the correct sequence and deadlines are met.
* Report deviations, improvements, or additional requirements to the Project Manager.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Foreman, Project Manager, or similar role in civil engineering or utilities.
* Strong knowledge of civil infrastructure, utilities, and construction methods (groundworks, ducts, sewers, etc.).
* Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
* Competence in planning, scheduling, and resource management.
* Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation and best practices.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and method statements.
* Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing project requirements.
* Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, or related fields preferred
