Customer Service Assistant
Location: Edinburgh West
Hours: Mon-Fri 36 hours per week
Rate of pay: £13.48 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary Ongoing
We are looking for a reliable and approachable Customer Service Assistant to join our team at a busy Taxi Examination Centre in the West of Edinburgh. This front-facing role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with the public, and is confident handling a variety of administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welcoming customers and managing the front desk area
2. Handing out paperwork for taxi inspections and MOT tests
3. Applying licences and permits to vehicles
4. Checking customer ID and scanning required documentation
5. Carrying out basic admin duties, including scanning and filing
6. Answering general enquiries regarding MOTs, taxi tests, and licensing (Note: you will not be permitted to assist with test questions)
7. Providing clear communication and assistance to customers, including those who may not have English as their first language
8. Managing queue systems and helping maintain calm in a small, sometimes busy office space
9. De-escalating conflicts with patience and professionalism when necessary

12. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
13. Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role is desirable
14. Comfortable using office equipment (scanner, printer, basic computer systems)

Due to the nature of this role, the ability to remain impartial and avoid providing assistance with test content is essential. You'll be the first point of contact for many of our customers, so a welcoming, respectful approach is key.
