The post holder will be a key member of the ICU administration team that provides a comprehensive clerical and support service to the department. Ward Clerks are a key component to the ICU, who excel in providing efficient support to each other, the staff on the ICU and the service.
Ward Clerks will be able to work as part of a busy team, work independently, work to unpredictable working patterns, and be able to work to conflicting and challenging deadlines.
Recruiting 1 candidate, who can be flexible and work any days Monday -Sunday to maintain the service.
Main duties of the job
Reception Duties
• Receive in a polite manner with minimum delay, visitors from both within and outside of the hospital maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
• Collect and distribute all incoming mail.
• Maintain a constant presence on the Critical Care Unit.
Clerical duties
• Maintains patient’s medical records and ensure they are in order.
• Maintain adequate supply of stationary equipment within the Critical Care Unit.
• Ensure stocks of admission paperwork is available
1. Ensure patient records etc are transferred to appropriate departments when necessary.
• Adheres to Data Protection Act and maintains confidentiality.
• Booking of transport for patient transfers as required.
• Assist in maintaining records of donations to the unit.
• Maintain an up-to-date emergency file of staff details.
• Photocopying and filing, as requested by the Matron or Nurse in Charge.
• Undertake the safe handling of patients’ property and valuables in accordance with Trust policy and under the guidance of the Sister or Nurse in Charge.

12. Educated to GCSE Level or Equivalent in English and Maths
13. Computer literacy in Microsoft products: PowerPoint / Excel / Spread sheets / Word
