Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent

Play a key role in strengthening engagement with tenants and residents to improve customer satisfaction.

You’ll be a key member of a new team, participating in policy reviews to give residents a voice, enabling them to shape council housing services and policies to meet their needs. Building strong relationships with tenants, you’ll support the development of accessible engagement mechanisms for all communities. You’ll deliver engagement activities at both local and city-wide levels, ensuring tenants are central to decision-making and feel heard.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You’ll need to be flexible, with frequent work outside normal hours, including evenings and weekends.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work with various stakeholders as the lead engagement officer for one of three city districts, ensuring residents’ voices are represented within the housing division. You’ll consult with residents, gather their views, and translate these into tangible outcomes. Staying updated on best practices in engagement and policy, you’ll brief senior managers accordingly.

What you’ll need

Experience in a social housing environment, understanding engagement and involvement techniques, and knowledge of best practices. Strong interpersonal skills are essential—listening, understanding, and diplomatically asking questions. You’ll think methodically and process detailed information, weighing complex issues. Flexibility to work outside normal hours regularly is required.

You must hold a full driving license and have access to a vehicle. The role is subject to a Basic DBS check.

What we can offer you

Besides the satisfaction of improving lives across Leicester, enjoy a healthy work/life balance, generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and flexible working options. We offer various training and development opportunities to enhance your skills. Additionally, benefit from flexible perks like discounts on city buses and trains.
