Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of innovative machinery and systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated early-career engineer to work on complex electromechanical designs, gaining exposure to real-world design for manufacture, assembly, and test.
Reporting to the Design Office Manager, youll play a key role in producing 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and supporting documentation used in the manufacture of world-class capital equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Produce 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings of mechanical assemblies and components
Collaborate with production, R&D, and senior design engineers to refine designs
Support design reviews and update documentation in line with change requests
Ensure designs meet internal standards and client specifications
Assist with BOM creation and maintenance in the ERP system
Contribute to continuous improvement of design workflows and standards
Investigate and resolve minor engineering challenges during build and test phases
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in a mechanical design role
Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar)
Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
Able to interpret technical drawings, specs, and GD&T
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated, organised, and willing to take ownership of tasks
Desirable Skills
Experience in low-volume, high-precision machinery design
Knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, and component selection
Exposure to engineering change processes and documentation standards
Familiarity with PDM or CAD data management tools
