Overview

Join to apply for the Mobile Mechanical Engineer role at Equans UK & Ireland. EQUANS is looking for a Mobile Mechanical Engineer working on behalf of our HMCTS contract at York Magistrates Court. This is a permanent full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

The primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical and Electrical Buildings Services Engineering plant, ensuring all activities are completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the contracted output specifications and EQUANS processes and procedures. This includes Legionella control and monitoring activities. Basic plumbing skills would also be part of the role.


Responsibilities

* Carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on Mechanical and Electrical Buildings Services Engineering plant, including Legionella control and monitoring activities.
* Ensure routine PPM is carried out to all mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and CAFM.
* Complete reactive tasks across sites and highlight areas for improvement; ensure plant faults are swiftly remedied to keep equipment in service.
* Provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works; ensure suitable spares are available.
* Complete relevant paperwork/CAFM for PPM, reactive and breakdown works and pass to contract administrator in a timely manner.
* Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
* Develop good working relationships with EQUANS staff, subcontractors and client representatives.
* Maintain a Safe and Healthy working environment with appropriate PPE and professional image of EQUANS at all times.
* Keep up-to-date plant logs and ensure plant rooms are kept clean and tidy.
* Supervise and monitor subcontractors on site; arrange holiday and sick cover; be flexible in working patterns; undertake lone working where required (subject to training).
* Complete assigned tasks and remain aware of contractual KPIs/SLA's; keep CAFM system (e.g., Maximo) up to date and close out tickets with accurate data.
* Operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with EQUANS processes and client requirements; undertake other tasks as directed by account management.
* Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.
* Respond to verbal and written requests in a timely manner; coordinate quotations and produce information for quotations when needed.
* Support the Helpdesk with planned and reactive maintenance reporting and be available for out-of-hours call-out support as required.
* Comply with Technical and SHEQ requirements, maintain records, and ensure calibration of test equipment.
* Maintain adherence to company safety policies and PPE standards; report accidents and near misses promptly.
* Adhere to quality standards and company vehicle policy; ensure site cleanliness and order; effective material coordination and documentation completion.


Qualifications or Required Experience

* Desirable circa 5 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer within an FM environment.
* City and Guilds - Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of staff.
* Proactive in achieving high standards of operation; strong IT and report-writing skills.
* Ability to work under pressure while delivering services within time constraints; strong initiative and drive to continuously improve operations.
* Advanced communication skills with a full understanding of customer needs and expectations.
* Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions; willingness to participate in internal training.
* Integrity, honesty, punctuality; valid UK driving license.

Additional information

The role is Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week, with participation in the callout rota. The position may require occasional tasks outside the core duties. For this role, evidence of the right to work in the UK is required. Agency involvement is not required. Certain roles may require a Disclosure check as noted in the role requirements.
