Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Section for Teacher Education to lead and manage our Teacher Education department. This is a full-time, fixed-term position offered on a rolling contract, which will include evening and online teaching as part of the role.
As Head of Section, you will be responsible for driving excellence across the department, leading a team of teaching staff, ensuring outstanding student outcomes, and promoting innovation in curriculum delivery. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the department while supporting the wider strategic goals of the College.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of teaching staff, supporting professional development and performance.
* Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure excellent student outcomes.
* Develop and deliver innovative curriculum pathways aligned with employer and learner needs.
* Oversee quality processes, including Self-Assessment Reports and Quality Improvement Action Plans. Support students’ progression into employment, further study, or higher education.
* Represent the department at internal and external meetings, open days, and marketing events.
* Ensure compliance with college policies, safeguarding requirements, and awarding body standards.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* A proven leader in education or industry with significant experience in Automotive or related disciplines.
* A track record of driving improvements in student outcomes and programme quality.
* Strong understanding of automotive curriculum and apprenticeship standards.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
