About the Position Hours Per Week : Full time, permanent 37 hours per week Rotating shifts: 8am–4pm and 1pm–9pm, plus on-call duty one weekend in every eight. Contract Type: Permanent, Full time Salary: £27,636 We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Analyst (Grade 1) to join our Microbiology department in Wakefield. This is a key position within our analytical operations, ensuring that all samples are processed to the required standards, quantities and deadlines, in line with our Quality Management System (QMS). Acting as a role model for excellence, you’ll provide day-to-day supervision and technical support to analysts, ensuring smooth workflow and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and service delivery. The Day to Day: Perform general laboratory work in strict accordance with documented methodologies and procedures. Ensure all samples are completed to the required quantities, quality standards and deadlines. Maintain high standards of quality control and uphold all quality management processes. Supervise and support analysts in the absence of the Team Leader, providing guidance and day-to-day oversight. Train team members to the required standard and assess ongoing competency. Manage resources effectively to meet service delivery targets and company KPIs. Investigate non-conforming work and contribute to process improvement initiatives. Respond to customer queries and complaints professionally and promptly. Proactively uphold Health & Safety standards, reporting any incidents or near-misses and promoting a safe working environment. The Essentials: Minimum of an A Level in Science or an equivalent qualification Significant laboratory experience with in-depth knowledge of environmental testing. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to prioritise your own work and support others. High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. Clear and effective communication skills. Good IT proficiency. A comprehensive understanding of Quality Management Systems. The ability to critically evaluate and draw sound conclusions from scientific data.
